Plays Well With Others

Thrifty shopping …

Did you see that Random trivia thing in the right hand column? I think if I saw a 37 foot, 24,000 lb. shark, I’d go into shock. I’d probably just fall on the ground and start convulsing or something. And how does one catch a 37 foot, 24,000 lb. shark? What kind of fishing line do you need to buy for something like that? Hey, everyone, look at what I caught?

It rained so hard today. It started off as just a slight sprinkle, and then within the blink of an eye … it was pouring down harder than I’d seen in some time. I love watching rain, from the comfort of a nice toasty home … especially if there’s a fire in the fireplace. What’s even better is going outside right after a big stormy night. The air smells crisp and clean … the ground is damp … the grass is wet. Everything is nice after a big rain.

I dont like driving in hard rain though … it’s pretty scary. Not the rain … just the assholes that don’t understand the concept of driving in the rain. You need to drive just a little less reckless … like not cutting people off.

You aren’t going to make that all important whatever the hell you are in a rush for if you are in a flipped over car, in a ball of flames, dead.

I’m feeling better today. I guess it was a one-day cold or something. Lately, it seems my colds only last one day … I dont get it. Maybe it’s because I drink so much orange juice … I drink tons of the stuff. Also, lately when I get sick, I actually take medication. Last night and this morning I took these gigantic pills for cold and flu. Are pills getting bigger?

I never used to take medication … I hated putting anything in my system. Now, I’m just like … there must be something good about taking them, or they wouldnt make the things. So I’m a pill popper now.

Also, I’m famous for ignoring colds, no matter how horrible I feel … I just continue doing things I need to do. I can’t get into the “I’m so sick, please everyone pity me” type of thing. I get bored laying in bed all the time, and I feel useless having people serve me … I’m just not a ME type of person I guess.

Do you ever wonder what other people’s lives are like when you aren’t around? Your neighbors, your classmates or coworkers …

I love people watching … it’s very interesting. Not just to watch, but to make things up in my head about what these people’s lives might be like. Just by looking at a person, and watching some of their behavior, I can make up what their homelife is like, what they do at night, etc.

Do they sit in front of the television to eat dinner, or do they sit with the family? Do they live alone or with others? Do they turn the radio up really loud and dance around when no one is around? Just some things to think about.

What do you think they people you work with or go to school with think you’re like when you’re at home? I remember someone telling me that they thought I was from this happy well-off family … I dont know why. Maybe I had nice clothes or something. I dont talk about myself all that much with people, unless they ask. So not many people knew my parents had been divorced since I was two … or that my father wasn’t ever around … or that their were times we really struggled to keep food on the table. My family is like that … even if we are having bad times, we have to show a good front. Most people could watch me at school, and never know what was really going on behind the closed doors. It’s probably why I like people watching … trying to figure out what their lives are really like once they leave the place where we spend our days.

There seems to be this thing now..maybe a fad or something. People are buying clothes at thrift stores. They actually shop in second hand stores and buy clothes. Accckkk!!

I can’t do it. I remember going into one once, because my mom wanted to see if she could find an old dining table. I almost threw up in the store from the musty old smell of old stuff. Plus, I’m a freak when it comes to wearing othere people’s clothes. I realize you have to wash the stuff, but there’s something strange about wearing a shirt that a stranger wore. Yuck!

Les buys the bulk of his wardrobe from thrift shops. He feels he’s being a “smart shopper” … and is getting great deals … like a shirt for a quarter. I dont agree …

I think it all stems back from my childhood … here we go again, blaming the childhood. I used to always get second hand clothes from my moms best friend, who probably bought the clothes from a thrift shop in the first place … so in reality I was probably getting thirds. These were those lean days I was referring to earlier.

I’m totally Mr. Materialistic sometimes … but I like quality. Most of my clothes last quite a long time, and I like them to be new. It’s just a me thing. If you can find a good bargain on second hand clothes it’s totally up to you.

One of my coworkers found this Willie Nelson concert shirt … for 75 cents. I guess it’s a neat little item … but why? I dont like t-shirts that have advertising all over them …

Okay, I’m prepared for the hate mail … send it in.

Aren’t the new quarters, the ones with the states on them, the NEW quarters? Like for the next ten years these will be phased in as the new quarters right?

So, why is everyone collecting them and saving them? Everyone I know is collecting them and hoarding them away like they are gold. I keep asking, aren’t they the new ones … like, aren’t they going to be minted for the next ten years, and you can get them at any local bank forever.

I just dont understand … go ahead be honest, you’ve been collecting them too. I know you have.

I turned on South Park tonight and they were doing some spoof on Pokeman. Here’s my question … what is a Pokeman? I’ve never seen the show … dont’ even know where to find it, and have no interest really. Are they superheros shaped like animals or something? I dont get it.

Does anyone remember Garbage Pail Kids cards? I found a whole box of them recently in storage … along with an entire shoe box of Topps football cards from 1984/86 time. It’s funny the things you find … I just stuffed them all back in storage … who knows I’ll do with them.

I’ll leave this up for this entry. “You just have to hear this … it’s a take off of Mambo #5 … I think it’s kind of funny.”
