When my father married
When my father married my stepmother, not only did I become related to a friend of mine, but also I became a part of a musical family. That’s what I did on Friday night. I went to a performance by a band called THE FUNDAMENTALS. The blonde guy, Chris Cole, is my stepmothers nephew, my friends uncle … and now I’ve been inducted into the family. So whenever Chris and the band play nearby, the family goes out and listens to them play. This was for Bastille Day, along with a promotion for the American Heart Association, including appearances by two local celebrities, Jonathan Karsh and Malu Nubla from Evening Magazine, a San Francisco show.
The band was great as usual, performing mostly covers and a few originals. Mainly songs to get people dancing, which is always fun. Great for people watching. We were there mainly to show support rather than to get up and dance, but I was grooving to the tunes along with cousin Laura, a cute 18 year old who I still think of as 7 or 8. When did people grow up?
Anyhow, that was Friday. Then I spent Saturday helping my friends Les and Cindy move to their new apartment. Picked up the UHaul bright and early, then stopped by where Les was living and picked up his stuff, headed to Cindy’s house and picked up her stuff, then spent the rest of the day carrying things up a flight of stairs to their apartment.
I need a vacation now.. hmm, oh yeah, I have one coming up in about one week now. 🙂
