Car shopping …

No, not for me … my sister’s car died the other day. She was driving down the hill from her work and suddenly the brakes went out. They just died. She hurled down the hill without brakes, beeping all the way to the bottom, until she pulled into the local mall and parked the car.

Anyhow, I spent Sunday morning going to a bazillion car lots looking at different cars and by the end of the afternoon we’d found nothing. She had about $14K to work with and we managed to find absolutely nothing she liked. Sure there were cars out there that she might be able to afford but you have to be willing to accept the fact that the bigass scratch in the door isn’t going to bother you, or the knobs missing on the radio are no bid deal. It sucks to have to buy a car that looks like crap because it’s in your budget.

Anyhow, we finally ended up at a lot where she found a car she kind of liked and we went and did the financials. Its basically good salesman, bad salesman in there. You have one promising you the world, and one telling you that you have to cough up more dough if you really want the car. We took a purchase order and got the hell out of there.

Well, today I was fooling around online and was checking out the car service through Amazon.com. I entered in the car that she liked, the color and some of the options she wanted and it came in under $14K with tax included. I called her up and told her to use the service and we ordered a car tonight online. She should get a call tomorrow regarding payment and within two weeks she should have a new car. Lets cross our fingers.
