Doink …
I just thought the word “Doink” was fun to say … nothing to do with the entry.
Actually, the other day I walked into the local Target and applied for a job. I want to get some weekend work to keep me busy and possibly build up the savings that I lost while off of work. I’m hoping to work at the registers, since I did that sort of thing about five to six years ago during my career at the grocery store.
Basically, the application process is automated. You sit at a little booth and type your answers at this little telephone screen and itsy bitsy keyboard. I put in my normal information, such as my name, address, phone number, etc. Then they ask you about a hundred questions on how you’d handle situations in the store.
I probably spent an hour sitting at this booth, going blind trying to read the little screen and typing on the tiny keyboard and when I was done the screen told me that it was printing the application and sending it to the hiring manager. It then told me to speak to the hiring manager by going to the office. Of course the person was no where to be seen.
I’m still waiting to hear from them … .
