Whoring myself out …
Some more of the usual excitement around here. Since I was laid off about three months ago, I’ve become everyone’s local handyman. I think my mom has volunteered my services to everyone in the free world.. she has a habit of doing that. “Sure, Greg’ll do that, no problem” “Um, Greg, I said you wouldnt mind tearing her roof off and replacing it, hope that won’t be a problem”
Anyhow, I’m helping my mom’s friend with small things around the house. She had some minor painting and patchwork that needed some work, along with moving a lamp in the dining room and some minor electrical in the bathroom. Small things, but I’ll get some cash for it, so it’ll work out in the end.
Yesterday, I went to my grandma’s house and painted a wall for her. She’s been wanting it painted since it was patched and since I am out of work, she called me up and asked me to do it. I think she slipped $25 in my pocket for the two minutes of work I did.
I also made $100 for doing some weeding in my mom’s backyard a few weeks ago, and now I’m removing wallpaper from her bathroom and I’ll be retiling the floor. I think it’s going to look great when it’s finished and it’ll give me something to do for a few days. Maybe I’ll get some money for that. I’ve figured out that I can become a handyman whore. I can just whore my services out and get paid. At least I really do “work for food”.
