Dent this …
So, I went and got an estimate for the “dent” in my door. I told the guy at the body shop that my neighbor felt that they could hammer it out and he laughed at me. He felt the “dent” was just a bit too big to “hammer out”.
He then goes into his routine checking out the entire car and picking out every little thing that he can find that might have possibly been damaged by the car getting hit. He explains that they need to replace the entire door, which will involve taking off the entire right side of my car and then replacing it and putting all sorts of new things on the door, plus they need to repaint it, because the paint is all scratched off. Whatever. So the estimate for repairing the door at this point is $2000.
Okay, so with that in mind, I called my insurance company to let them know whats going on and they feel that they need to come out and look at it. Plus, getting it fixed is going to cost me $300 which I’ll get back. Just what I need.
I think this is definately more than it would cost to “hammer it out”.
