Plays Well With Others

Mugshots and Fingerprinting … I

Mugshots and Fingerprinting …

I decided to get some of my new job details out of the way today, so I wouldnt have to worry about it on Monday, when I start. First stop, corporate headquarters, where they give me some forms and I fill them out and get the lowdown on where some of the things are located, of course, there is more to come on Monday. Next stop, corporate headquarters on the new campus, where I got fingerprinted and had my mugshot taken. Third stop, peeing in a cup. They insist on a drug test, so I was given a cup told to pee in it and then handed it to “the pee guy”.

“Sir, you have to fill this cup to the line.” Well of course I went well beyond the line. I mean, once things start flowing, its hard to put a cork on it and stop.

Anyhow, I’m very excited about the new position, and it might be hard to tell because I’m pretty much worn out from the last few months of looking. I think, until I actually start work, I wont really believe that its happening. Of course, the whole fingerprinting, getting a mugshot and peeing into a cup is a good sign.

So, where will I be working you might be wondering. Well, its a company called Franklin Templeton Investments. From the people I’ve spoken to, a very prestigious company to work for, with TONS of benefits. They are very involved in the community, which was one of the selling points for me, along with the fact that they really try to promote internally, which means if I get sick of the job I took, I can try for other jobs within the company. Woohoo.

So, Monday will be the big “first day of work”. I’ll get a four hour orientation on where everything is, and then get introduced for the first time to my new team and my desk. Of course, dont get settled in too quickly, because in two weeks or so, I’ll have to adjust to an entirely new desk in an entirely new building.

The new campus is sprawling and fabulous, with a corporate cafeteria, a workout facility and tons of other groovy stuff. Plus, the best part, its only about five minutes from my house. So, once I get settled into the new building, I’m going to give a go at biking to work, which will mean, buying a good bike and then getting in enough shape to actually ride it without having a heart attack. The thing I’m worried about is getting testicular cancer from those bike seats. I’m going to definately have to look into a good cushy bike seats.. .have to protect “the boys” afterall.

Yeehaw … Greg is a working boy now!! No more living off the government for me. 🙂
