Of course …

The last two days have been hot as hell here in the San Francisco Bay Area. Wednesday was the hottest day in May on record, topping at 101 degrees. Yeah, maybe not hot for some of you folks, but for us fog city dwellers, who are very content with our 75 degree highs, its unbearable. Especially since air conditioning wasn’t considered anywhere in a 100 mile radius of this place.

So, the heat took on toll on more than just me. It fried my monitor, which I found out about this morning. The monitor was acting up a little last night, when it started ticking. Sort of like you’d expect a bomb to be ticking. Tick, tick, tick, tick, tick … you get the idea. Just constant ticking. So, I shut it off and thought I’d let it cool down.

Well, this morning, I turned the computer on and flipped the monitor on and the ticking started up again. I went into the kitchen to make some oatmeal for breakfast and came back into my room to the smell of smoke. Uh oh.

Luckily the monitor wasnt on fire, but it smelled like it had been. It’s shot. A perfectly healthy 17-inch monitor down the drain. Anyhow, I went to e-cost.com and found a flat panel 18-inch display for a good price, plus I can deduct it as a business expense, so it’s all good. I can’t wait. Those flat panels take up hardly any space, so I might actually get my desk back and they weight a quarter of what those big ass monitors weigh. It’s an expense I didnt need right now, but I can’t really go without a good monitor for awhile. For now I’m using the small display on my laptop …
