My friend, eBay, to the rescue

I have an old HP Deskwriter color printer sitting at home in my cabinet at home and last time I used it, it worked fine. The problem has been that its been sitting in the cabinet for about a year now, because at some point, I lost the power supply cord.

Now, you’d think you could just head over to Hewlett-Packard’s site and order one, right. Wrong. That site is convoluted. After going through a hundred pages to find out where to order a new power supply, they tell you to go to a reseller. Argh. Then I tried going to radio shack to get one of their generic ones, and the people there tell me that I have to actually physically carry the printer into their store, so I can find out which one I need. Bullshit on them.

Finally, I headed over to my good friend, eBay and low and behold, there’s a listing for a the exact power supply I need, including the part number. Phew. Now of course, it’ll probably cost me $20 to get the damn thing, but that’s what PayPal money is for. That account sits there full of money that never gets used, so when I want to buy something off eBay, I can just use my account.

Anyhow, if I win the damn thing, I’ll be getting my cord in the mail shortly. Then … someday, I can auction off the whole damn printer.

what was the last thing you eBay’d?
