Plays Well With Others

Will work for food …

For the last two weeks, Wifey™ and I have been living off of whatever is left in our cabinets and the kindness of strangers. Ugh. Essentially, we’ve been po’.

Basically, my last paycheck from the 30th went totally towards rent. At the same time, we had to pay the bills that had piled up and were due. So, after paying rent and bills, we were left with about $200 to our name. Now in two weeks, about $100 of that goes towards gas and leaving us with about $100 for food shopping. Ugh.

We did manage to buy some of the essentials; milk, bread and eggs. But not much more and have basically been eating whatever we could scrape together from the cabinets and refrigerator. Luckily we had a big bag of chicken in the fridge, and tons of ramen. We haven’t starved yet and it’s amazing at what you can come up with on a budget. Plus, we’ve been invited to eat at other people’s houses a couple of times, which we quickly said yes to.

With what little money money we did have we decided to spend it on fixins’ for spaghetti sauce, which will make four jars, and four packs of 99 cent pasta. So, basically, we’ve been eating spaghetti ALOT the last two weeks. It’s cheap and tastes good.

I also made some lemon chicken the other night from leftovers we had from our dinner party. All I had to do was to brown some chicken and then use the leftover lemon sauce on top of it. Very tasty.

Other nights have been ramen noodles mixed with leftover veggies and chicken, and ramen with an egg dropped into the boiling water. Ramen is good to have around for emergencies like this. And it’s tasty too. Ugh.

Anyhow, this week our two weeks of po’dome will come to an end. Both Wifey™ and I get paid on Thursday, plus I have a check coming in from a design job I did, so although we won’t be rolling in it, at the very least, we’ll be able to live a little less frugally.

Of course, we have had more sex in the last week than usual, so maybe it’s not a bad thing to be po’.

Did anyone watch the Michael Jackson special? Ugh. Not really ugh, because those songs are awesome. And watching him sing and dance is still amazing to me. It really brings me right back to my youth watching that stuff. The moonwalk, the white glove, Billy Jean. Man. Thats some cool shit.

Of course, I really could have done without Liza Minnelli’s rendition of “Heal The World”. Ugh. I mean, that lady is just a shaky mess at this point. And did you check out Whitney Houston? Jesus christ, someone needs to start feeding the girl. If she turned sideways she would have disappeared. I’m not talking about piling on an extra rice cake either. She seriously needs to chow down on a handful of Big Macs.

Anyhow, it was a cool show. He really did deliver.
