The weekend warrior …

Luckily, the weekend wasn’t filled with the usual pre-christmas running around looking for gifts, but instead was spent mostly at home. It’s was one of the first weekends that I could take it easy. And it was niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice.

Friday night, around the Greg and Wifey™ household is “date night”. No, I’m not talking about SIMS and their new Hot Date expansion pack, but instead the one night a week that Wifey™ and I keep open for us to do something together. Friday, we opted for going out to dinner. I had no clue where we should go, but living where we live, there are tons of possibilities nearby. In the end, we drove to the edge of the bay and went to The Elephant Bar restaurant. It’s situated right on The Bay and at night you can actually see the planes coming in for a landing at SFO. It’s actually kind of neat. Unfortunately, its also usually a long wait to get in, but we took a chance, since it was still early.

We’d arrived around 6:30PM, almost immediately pulled behind someone that was pulling out. Score!! One down. Then we went in and found that what sounded like an entire college fraternity was in there … it was just a bunch of rowdy folks. We headed to the counter expecting a half hour to an hour wait and were surprised that after ten minutes we were called to our table. Score again!! Then we were seated right by the window, instead of in the bar, where we expected to end up. Score once more!! It’s a rowdy place, but the food it pretty good and the atmostphere is pretty nice also. Sitting by the window, makes it a cool evening for anyone.

Saturday was more of a work day for both of us. Wifey™ did some overtime at the pharmacy, and I did freelance work. Anything to bring a little extra cash into the coffers.

After working, we headed to my moms house to have dinner and dessert with some of her friends. Anything for a free meal also. These are all people I grew up with. They’d all spent some time babysitting my crabby ass at some point when I was younger, so it was nice to see them … along with free food.

Sunday was the day of rest. And I mean it. Wifey™ and I basically stayed home most of the day. We even did our laundry at the complex, rather than going to the laundromat where we’d get it done in one-third the time and cheaper. Hey, we were determined to stay home at least one day. I finished work on my freelance work and then watched Mr. Hollands Opus. I love that movie. I dont know why, but it’s got to be one of my favorites to watch. I like Richard Dreyfus, although, I seem to always miss his new show, The Education of Max Bickford. It’s been compared to Mr. Hollands Opus, so I’m sure I’d like it.

Anyhow, the rest of the weekend was pretty relaxing … and then came Monday.

On an unrelated note, I like to read the “odd stories” section from time to time, and found this one. It seems that one in four Brits has sex in the back of a car after the office christmas party. Those saucy Brits. We’ll have to ask Tim about this.

And for those of you looking for some backseat action, the article goes on to say that most men find that the back of a Porsche Boxter is where they find most success, most women find that they have more success in the back of a VW Beetle or the new Mini’s, whatever that is. Can you just see the next line of car ads coming out … “Own a Porsche and get more BANGS for your buck”. Or maybe that should be “Get banged more for your buck”. Erm.
