Plays Well With Others

TGIF everyone …

How come Fridays seem to take so long to get here and Mondays come so fast? I think I’ll start a petition for four day work weeks. Who else would be willing to work an extra two hours a day to get a three day weekend. Hmm. Anyone?

Lunch time is always the highlight of my day here at the factory. It’s my one time during the day to get the hell out of the cube farm. I mean, cube farms are wonderful and all but getting out of the building to see what kind of weather is out there is nicer. At least in my opinion. Of course, not everyone shares this opinion, because everyone seems to have their own lunch issues.

The girl across from me eats almost all day long. Her and another coworker goto the cafeteria first thing in the morning to grab something for breakfast, then they take a midmorning stroll for a snack and then around lunchtime they head out and I’m sure there are a couple more trips during the day for snacks and such. They aren’t even smokers. They just eat all day long. And it’s not like they are 800 pound hippos or anything. Ugh.

The guy diagonally from me tends to grab a bagel or toast first thing in the morning, to go with his cup of coffee and then takes a regular lunch break around noon or so.

One of my supervisors goes out for lunch, while the other tends to eat in most times. Yesterday I walked up behind her and she was playing Tetris or something on her lunch hour. Ugh. Why the hell would you want to play a game on a computer that you are working on ALL day long? Why wouldnt you want to get some fresh air, instead of the stagnant, recycled shit they pump through the building all day long. I never understand people who sit at their computers during their lunch hour. At the very least pick your lumpy ass up and take a walk around the building or something.

My lunch hour is usually spent at home. I’m perfectly willing to waste ten minutes each way to drive home and relax in the comfort of my own home. It’s great. It’s almost too good. I mean, there you are in your living room, watching TV and eating good food, and there’s this little voice on your shoulder saying “Dont go back.” Of course, I always go back, but it’s really a nice lunch hour. I also go late in the day, so that the rest of my day is really short. It’s nice.

This weekend I will be co-hosting a bachelor/bachelorette party for my two good friends who are getting married next weekend. We’ll be heading into The City to have some fun and grab some dinner before heading to a nightclub for some music and more fun. So today, I’m scrambling to get last minute details put together. Wish us luck!

Finally, I have a new section I’ve added and plan to update once a week. Perhaps midweek, I’ll be updating the new “WebReview” section located in the right hand column. It’s basically a place to write reviews for journal sites that I’ve read or plan to read. What’s cool is that readers can write their own reviews and leave ratings for the sites. I’m thinking that once a month, I’ll send out an award of some sort to the highest rated site. We’ll see if I actually do that. Depends mostly if p>

e get involved, or if I’m just talking to myself a little more.
