Plays Well With Others

Oh the pain …

Ever have one of those periods when you feel like every weekend is booked up. Well, we are currently in one of those situations. Every weekend through the middle of October is booked up.

Last weekend was my sisters birthday, so we were up at mom’s house for a little dinner celebration. At least that was a quiet one. We ate, watched a movie. A quiet evening.

This weekend, we were very much busier. Saturday was spent with some friends. See they are both in teaching. She is a second grade teacher, while he is a teacher’s aide for physically and mentally handicapped young adults. He is also currently taking classes to get his teaching credential to he can have his own classroom someday. Anyhow, the reason for the get together was that the town she teaches in was having an arts and wine type festival, where her class was to be in a parade that kicked the event off. Wifey™ and I managed to get there for the tail end of the parade and spent the rest of the day, walking around the booths and looking at all the crafty type stuff. We actually walked away with a nice bottle of marinade for chicken. Saturday was more tiring from the walking in the heat than anything else.

Sunday, on the other hand, was more tiring from a physical point of view. That day we tore down a deck. A few entries ago, I explained that my mom is replacing her deck with a sunroom. So, Wifey™ and I headed down early Sunday morning to tear the deck down and it was a lot of work. It took us all day to hammer, saw and unscrew sections of the deck and by the end of the day, for the most part, it was completely gone.

This morning we both woke up feeling like we’d been in a car accident. Ugh.

Anyhow, next weekend we have a garage sale to put on. Those are always fun. Sitting around all day out in the sun, waiting for people to stop by and haul your crap away. What’s funnier is how you have something out for a dime and someone tries to talk you down to a nickel. It’s like, um, “ITS A DIME YOU CHEAP BASTARD”. I always post prices higher so that when people talk me down, I’ll get what I really want for it. Just funny how cheap people are when they are trying to buy your crap. Not that I really care, afterall, I AM trying to get rid of the shit. Better in your garage than mine.

Next Sunday appears to be open for us, for now. We’re pretty excited to have a day to relax.

Then comes October. The weekend of October 5th and 6th is our one-year wedding anniversary weekend. So, how would you spend it. Probably not like us. On the 5th, we’ll be spending it on a construction site building a house. How romantic. We’ll actually, we signed up for Habitat for Humanity and that’s the weekend they are in need of help. So, at least for Saturday, we’ll be on the construction site volunteering by helping to build, paint, plant, haul and anything else. I’m really looking forward to it and personally, I feel like it’s a better way to celebrate an anniversary by helping others rather than always thinking of ourselves … not that we hardly ever do. Sunday is anniversary day, so we’ve left it open so that we can go out to dinner and have some fun. That is, if we aren’t too sore from Saturday. 🙂

Finally, the three day weekend of the 12-14th. Wifey™ could be working at least half of those days, so I’ll have to find something fun to do on my three day weekend.

As for now, I need some Ben Gay and lie down. What the fuck kind of name is Ben Gay?
