Plays Well With Others

I’m So Embarrassed For You …

Wifey™ and I went to a high school production of “Fame” on Friday. It only cost us $10 each and since my two cousins were in it, it was worth it, just to see them. They’re cool and awesome little teenage girls. They didn’t have big parts, but kicked ass anyhow.

The rest of the cast, however, sucked. Their acting was okay … maybe even good, for high school kids, but when it came to their singing, I was actually embarrassed for them. Since Fame is a musical, there’s quite a bit of singing involved and so there were quite a few uneasy moments. The girls were better than the guys, and that’s not really saying much. The guys were totally off key. I mean off key, like if the key was on the east coast, they’d be on the west coast. Maybe even Hawaii.

They’d sing these tunes and all you could think about is when it was going to stop. I don’t think I even really followed the story that much, because I was anticipating the singing parts so much. Uncomfortable was the word of the night. Ugh. I hate that. You have to give it to them, though. I mean, song after bloody song, they kept going. I certainly wouldn’t have.

I wonder if they actually have practice runs. I mean, at some point, wouldn’t someone step up and say … “that really wasn’t very good”. It seems that it’s so tough to get guys to be in the plays, that when they do get a few, they don’t say anything bad to them, just to keep them in the play.

Anyhow, my cousins were dancers and did a great job. The highlight of my evening. Not having to hear people sing.

Speaking of embarrassments, let’s talk about Bush.

The European Union is putting sanctions on the United States for $2.2 billion, all because of another of Bush’s great ideas about tariffs on steel. Good going. So now, not only do we have the largest national debt ever, to which I might add that we had a surplus when he came into office, but we also went to war and he still can’t come up with a valid, legal reason for doing so. Our political allies have basically left us, most countries think our President is a joke, and we are in debt.

For all those people that voted Bush into office in 2000 … good going. I certainly am looking forward the election next year, just to see how Bush is going to try and save face. Maybe his big brother will have to fix the voting system again and keep the blacks from voting. God forbid we have a fair battle.

Finally. It seems that when one person online gets sick … slowly but surely, everyone gets sick. Katie isn’t feeling well. Uncle Bob isn’t feeling well. Nicole isn’t feeling well. Ugh. Damn it. And now I’m not feeling well. I don’t know what it is, but somehow over the weekend, I started to get an upset stomach and now I keep getting random stomach pains. Other than that, I don’t really have any other symptoms. Ugh. I think I’m going to throw up.
