Opportunity is a Knockin’ …
There’s an internal position opening up that I might try to go for. The position basically does the same thing that I do, which is production design work, consisting of updates to existing material, some design of new material and then some press checks and such. Pretty much what I currently do … or am supposed to do, if there was ever any work to do.
The cool part is that they really want to hire someone from within the company to do the job, and it would move me from my current department to another one, meaning that I’d have a new manager/supervisor. And that’s a good thing.
So, I’ve already talked to my supervisor about it, received the job description and the next step is to let her know if I’m interested or not and then I’ll have to have a meeting with the new department. I think I’ll let her know on Monday, so it doesn’t look like I’m JUMPING at the chance to get the hell out of this department. Even though I am.
Of course, there are no promises that I’ll be chosen, but I probably have a better shot than someone coming from the outside. At least, I’d hope so.
