Plays Well With Others

And It’s Over … Well …

The move is complete. All of our crap has been moved from one place to the other and although it cost us $600 to have movers do it … it was worth it. By the time Friday rolled around, both Wifey™ and I were completely exhausted. It’s been quite a week. I can hardly believe how much we actually got accomplished this week, but we did it.

Thursday, I shut the server down, which meant no websites and no email. The new place didn’t even have a phone line yet, so we couldn’t even do dial-up. There really wasn’t much time anyhow to play around online, with so much piled up around the house.

When Friday finally came, the movers arrived at 8AM and began the slow process of hauling our stuff to the truck and then hauling it down the street to the new place. By about 1:30PM, they’d completed the move, which meant our part was just beginning. Altogether, we had my mom and ONE friend help us out with the move. No one else really offered, which is pretty pathetic. We got comments like, “You hired movers, right?” meaning “Hope you hired movers because we aren’t helping you”. Ugh.

Yeah, we hired movers … just like I hope you do when you move because we aren’t helping you.

Wifey™ and I are both beyond exhausted. We’ve unpacked practically everything at this point, but there’s still a bunch of stuff that needs to be done. We’re calling them weekend projects. Like finish painting the hallway, finish installing the doors and then finish little projects around the house. Ugh. The never-ending projects. The life of a homeowner.

On a little sidenote, we did take a break on Wednesday. Earlier in the week, I answered the phone and it was this girl asking for Wifey™. I told the girl that she was out and that I’d take a message. The message was that Wifey™ had won a contest from the local radio station, to sit in on an interview with Alanis Morrisette. Everyone that knows Wifey™, knows that Alanis is her absolute favorite performer EVER. So when I got this news, I quickly called her up at her job to tell her, which was followed by complete disbelief and excitement.

So Wednesday, we finished up some odd projects around the house and then headed to the radio station where we joined approximately twenty other contest winners for this intimate performance and interview. We sat probably five feet from where she sat and listened to two songs LIVE in the studio, which was pretty cool. The DJ was kind of stupid, asked stupid questions and seemed more involved in her script than actually listening to the answers, but Alanis just kept answering. Anyhow, afterwards we all got to go up and quickly get autographs and take pictures before she headed out.

So, when our turn came up, we headed over to Alanis, Wifey™ stood next to her, smiled and I went to take the picture and the camera totally didn’t work … UGH. I pushed the button and absolutely nothing. NADA. ZILCH. Talk about peeing my pants. Here’s Wifey™ standing next to her all time favorite performer ever and my camera is NOT working … plus I’m holding up the whole show. I’m fidgeting with the camera, her manager is standing next to me asking me if the camera is broken or something and Wifey™ and Alanis are both standing there with smiles plastered on their faces waiting for my camera to work. Ugh. I was stressing.. and then SNAP … the camera worked …

… and I hoped and prayed that the damn picture came out okay. Ugh.
