Plays Well With Others

What A Mess …

Okay, so I know that when you move all your worldly crap from one house to another, it’s expected that you’ll have a mess for a little while, while you figure out why the hell you kept half your shit anyhow. And it’s only been a couple of days since the big move happened.

But …

If we don’t get our house in order, I’m going to freak. I can handle little messes. Like a glass on the counter or dirty dishes in the sink, or even a bag of chips left out on the table. I can’t handle boxes and boxes of crap piled up high on every little inch of floor space so that just trying to get to the kitchen means hopping and stumbling over boxes. Ugh. I can’t handle that.

We started out okay. We got the living room and dining room set up and most of the stuff put away after the movers came. And then over the weekend, we went to get the last of the stuff and now the living room and dining room are piled high in crap. And it seems that in order to put some of the stuff away, we need to clear out another space first. For example, the office closet is filled with moving boxes full of stuff that needs to be put away. But the living room is filled with coats that need to be put in that closet. So, in order to put the coats away, we need to clear out the closet in the office. However, we can’t clear out the closet because the room is full of OTHER boxes that need to be put away. So essentially, we need to start with the boxes in the room to clear the closet so the coats can be put away. Ugh.

We may never get this all done. Not only that, but there are unfinished projects still going on in the house itself. We have painting that hasn’t been finished, trim that hasn’t been putty’d or painted and doors that need to be installed.

My plan this week is to start tackling boxes little by little throughout the house and by the weekend, start working on the doors. Any leftover time, will be spent doing some light painting.

It’s all part of being a homeowner.
