Plays Well With Others

The Changing of the Wallet…

This weekend I did something I’d been putting off since Christmas. I changed my wallet out. Ugh.

I was given a new wallet at Christmas and proceeded to put it away, figuring I’d change it out when I had some extra time. Psychologically, I was probably hoping I’d lose it so I could avoid changing it out at all. Girls don’t understand the trama, the connection we guys have to our wallets. We carry our entire lives in our wallets. And there’s nothing better than getting your wallet to the point where the leather has been folded and refolded so many times that you’ve broken it in. Ahhh!! We like our old, worn in, falling apart wallets. Even those with duct tape holding them together.

Girls seem to have no problem changing wallets and purses. It’s fun for them. The wallet has to match the purse and the purse has to match the shoes that match the outfit that match the house and the car and the office buildings. Me… I don’t care what my wallet matches. All I care about is that all my crap fits in it and that it fits in my back pocket easily.

Ugh. That’s not the case with my new wallet. First off, it doesn’t have enough spaces for the cards I carry. Second, once you manage to jam the card into the card slot… it’s VERY hard to get it out. Third, once you get all the cards and cash and stuff into the wallet… the fucker won’t close. I managed to close it over the weekend and jam it into my back pocket only to tear my cuticle and pull a muscle in my arm when I needed to get it out. And then when I did get it out… it flew open. I can tell already, it’s going to take me a few years to get this wallet worn in like my old one. Ugh. Traumatic, I’m telling you.

On an unrelated note… I’ve received over 3000 spam email in the last hour and a half to my main account. All in German. Ugh. It’s going to be a FUN night tonight.

When Levi’s wallet finally tore in half he DUCT TAPED it back together and used it for a few more months.

I feel your pain. Whenever I get a new wallet, I just cringe. The good news is that when I received my current wallet, it had more slots for credit cards, etc., than my old one.
