Guilty…
The verdict is in and the local news people are splooging themselves right now because of the local story gone national. Scott Peterson has been found guilty of the 1st degree murder of his wife and 2nd degree murder of his son. Ugh.
It’s always strange when a small local story suddenly goes national. The national media converges on the city like flies converging on shit. It’s insane. I remember hearing the missing person’s report on the local news, watching Scott and her parents stand side by side asking for information that would help find her and even watching the volunteer efforts as they looked for her. Then it all began to unravel and soon Scott was being interviewed by Diane Sawyer and the national media became involved.
The Redwood City courthouse has been crazy. The street are all blocked off and trying to do anything over there is just a pain. Luckily I haven’t been called to jury duty in awhile, or I’d be over there fighting for a parking spot.
I’m not sure if it’s a big story in any other part of the country, but here it’s all that’s on TV. The local media wants to make sure that if the national media needs a feed, they’re on the air to give it to them. Ugh.
Anyhow, our little local story has finally started to wind down. They found him guilty and now it’s time to hear what the sentencing will be… and then to finally hear from the jurors. This won’t be over until they all sell their book rights and the made-for-TV movie comes out.
