Another Day Off…

One of the best things about November through January are all of the days off. I just got off a week and a half and now I’m off again. Woohoo.

Today I’m just chillin’, taking it easy, as one should on a day off. The only project I took on today was swapping out a light fixture on our back patio. The old one is was just an ugly ass tube, where the light would shine straight down to the ground. So if you were standing directly under it, you’d be fine, but otherwise you couldn’t see shit out there. The new floodlights will allow me to focus lighting in two different areas, so that’ll be good.

Somehow during the holidays I gained about ten pounds. Ugh. Way the hell too much food. I swear. The sight of food actually made me sick for a few days right after Christmas. In order to get it off, I’ve spent the last two weeks hitting the gym everyday. My lunch hour gives me a limited amound of time per session because I need to allow time to change and shower but it still gives me a good half hour workout.

I’m sticking to cardio—the stationary bike, the elliptical and the treadmill, along with some situps. After two weeks, I’ve lost most of the ten pounds I gained through the holidays, and no need to refocus on the rest. My six-month goal is thirty pounds, which would put me in a “normal” range. We’ll see how it goes.

My theory on dieting is to pretty much not go crazy. I’m drinking tons of water, which pretty much sucks and I’m watching what I’m eating. I’m not a big water drinking, so after awhile it just makes me feel like I’ve swallowed a swimming pool. But I’m trying. As for food, just be reasonable. Eat what you want, within reasonable amounts. I think that’s where most people get into trouble. They like chips, so they’ll eat a whole bag. Or they like McDonalds, so they’ll eat it every day. You can still eat that stuff, but maybe just a handful of chips or just one burger without the fries. You know… within reason.

Anyhow, I actually look forward to hitting the gym during the week mainly because I find that afterwards I feel pretty energetic and less tired. I’ll get back to you in six-months and we can see how its going.

For now though, it’s my day off and I’ve got some relaxing to do.
