Plays Well With Others

Civil Unrest…

A new poll indicates that a majority of Americans believe that there will be a civil war in Iraq and half of those feel that it’s time for the United States to start withdrawing forces. Even more interesting is that this has nothing to do with party lines—seven in 10 Republicans and eight in 10 Democrats share this feeling.

Two-thirds of those polled indicate that they doubt the Bush administration has any plan in place for an exit-strategy regarding Iraq. And most people doubt that either the Republicans or the Democrats have come up with any kind of plan for ending the war at all.

Bush Approval Rating

Essentially, the American people have no confidence at all that there is an end in sight and have serious doubts about the people that put us in this situation. Bush’s approval rating stands at about 41%, a record low for his administration. And I’d be willing to bet that most of those 41% are people are people that voted for him and support him for reasons outside of how he’s running the United States. Afterall, 60% of Americans can now see that he’s absolutely clueless and is actually harming the United States rather than helping it. That means that even people in his own party are turning on him at this point.

And the poll doesn’t just blame Bush, but also the Republican-controlled Congress—36% approve of how Congress is handling things. Yeah, count me in. The Democrats don’t get off lightly either. Their numbers are also slipping—42% trust the Democrats to run the country, while 40% trust the Republicans. I think I fall into that 18% that doesn’t trust anyone.

A majority of people feel that invading Iraq was a mistake. I’ll add that that would be the 12th consecutive poll that shows that a majority of people feel we should have never gone there. Yeah. Too late now, isn’t it. We took out their leader, went in and blew up their country and now are going to leave—sorry, we can’t fix it… good luck. Sounds a little f—‘d up if you ask me.

Some other numbers are as follow… more than 60% disapprove of Bush’s handling of Katrina. Kind of surprising, since most of those people are still living on the streets and nothing is being done to rebuild anything. Yeah, probably the same 40% mentioned above. More than 58% disapprove of the way he’s handling the prescription drug issue. And 38% approve of his handling of the healthcare issue, 44% of international affairs, 40% of ethics in governement.

Yeah, we’re spending all of our money on Iraq… there’s nothing left to actually spend on Americans. Ugh. I’ll tell you one thing right now, Iraq isn’t going to be the only country with some civil unrest if things don’t start to change quickly.
