Over The Shoulder Boulder Holders…
When you get married, you sign up for the whole package—better, worse, sickness, health, etc. It means that you’ll occassionally have to hold a purse or sit outside a dressing room while the Wifey™ tries on some clothes. That’s where I found myself on Saturday afternoon—in the bra section of an upscale department store, sitting in an uncomfortable chair while streams of women carried racks of bras past me to the fitting rooms.
You learn a lot sitting there.
First off, guys don’t do this. We don’t TRY ON our underwear before buying it. We just pick out a package of our size and walk out with a six or twelve pack of underwear. The biggest choice is boxers or briefs and probably some color choices. Easy. We might have one or two racks of underwear to choose from.
Women, on the other hand, have an entire section of the department store dedicated to bras. And to complicate it even more, they have two different numbers/letters to deal with. Also, according to something I heard a few months back, most women are wearing the wrong sized bra. Must be true, because nearly every single woman walking into the fitting room was getting sized, and almost all of them walked out with the knowledge that they were wearing the wrong size—including my wife.
I have to admit there’s a bit of an uncomfortableness sitting in the aisle of the bra section. It’s all women, all the time. Lots of bras and lots of bra-like discussion. And LOTS of talk about the boobies. In fact, the female employees were handling three to four customers each, doing sizings and choosing bras. And yes, getting sized might mean exposing your breasts to one of the sizing people. Where do I sign up for THAT job?
In all, I think I sat there for about half an hour during a prom weekend, so tons and tons of young girls choosing bras for their prom dresses. Ugh. In the end though, Wifey™ walked out with a different size that actually makes her look thinner, so she’s happy.
