Big Words…

A new study shows that when writers needlessly use “big words”, where a smaller word would fit just fine, it actually makes the author appear more stupid in the eyes of his or her readers. I think it’s one thing to use a “big word” when it’s the only one that exactly fits what you’re trying to convey, but it’s another thing to just toss in big thesaurus-type words to try and seem more intellectual. I’ve always said that you should write the way you speak and there won’t be any problems.

Free Breast Exams…

A 76-year old man claiming to be a doctor went door-to-door offering free breast exams and has been charged with sexually assaulting two women that accepted the offer. The big tip off was when he asked one woman to remove all of her clothing and started doing a genital exam without gloves. Yeah, so the door-to-door exams didn’t tip her off, it was the fact that he wasn’t wearing gloves. Ugh. I say, charge them all with stupidity.
