Plays Well With Others

Ask and Then Receive…

Money For Content and Your Clicks For Free: Turning Web Sites, Blogs, and Podcasts Into Cash

About a month ago I asked for a sponsorship to Blogads. A few days later I received an email from my future sponsor and a few days ago I was granted access to the kingdom. It was that easy. A perfect stranger helping a brother out. It’s one of the great things about this blogosphere universe. People helping people.

It’s a little slice of the world that we don’t often see. The real world is more dog eat dog, where people are more interested in how much they can get for themselves and less about helping others get something. After seven years of blogging, it’s something that keeps me coming back.

A great example is Rob of Darn-Tootin and his blog, My Beloved Monster and Me. I’ve been reading him for about seven years now. His daughter, Schuyler, was born with an autism-related condition that keeps her from being able to speak. He asked his readers for donations to buy an electronic communication device and a few weeks later, his readers had raised over $10,000. Now he’s writing a book about his journey and Schuyler’s “monster”.

Of course, there are also those people that use their blogs just to get readers to buy them stuff off their wishlists or other free “stuff”. It’s fine if you reciprocate and buy for others, but more than often, these types of people do a lot of taking and give very little in return. Luckily, I don’t encounter too many people like this.

And that brings me to my sponsor, Jay, who has a host of blogs, an online book and a podcast. The Zero Boss is a blog about “parenting, religion, sex, and anything else that clings to the wall”. It’s accompanied by a podcast of the same name and an online book, “The Zero Boss: Reflections of an Imperfect Father”. His other blogs include Parents Behaving Badly, Cartoons for Grownups, and Dad Centric.

Take some time to visit his sites, show him a little of the online love and then it’ll be my turn to pay it forward when someone else needs a sponsor.
