Plays Well With Others

Fa La La La La…

And it’s nearly here. I’m sure that the folks heading to the malls today are happy about this. Wifey™ and I have been pretty much done for a couple of weeks now. It’s nice. We’ve been able to pretty much just enjoy ourselves, instead of fighting the crowds for last minute gifts.

One of the challenges at this time of year is trying to find not only Christmas gifts for Wifey™, but also a birthday gift. Her birthday is five days before Christmas and she’s never had a birthday part because of it. The rule is that we don’t wrap birthday gifts in Christmas paper and we don’t intermingle the two occasions. I’m sure those with holiday birthdays can relate.

About a year ago, she mentioned that she’d lost her diamond earrings. I’d bought them for her for some occasion and we turned the house upside down looking for them. They never turned up. So this year I decided to replace them. The perfect birthday gift. I ordered them and they arrived just a week before her birthday. In between ordering them and them arriving, she was looking through some boxes and guess what turned up. Yeah, her lost earrings. So, a few days later I gave her the replacement earrings and said that we’d have to return them and find something else. Ugh.

Other than that, we’ve been busy with parties and work. Our friends party was last weekend and it went fairly well. And this week were our office parties. Tomorrow is our family party and then Christmas day is typically a quiet day.

In preparation of tomorrow, we headed to our local Target to pick a few things up. It’s always funny watching stressed out people run around the store looking for last-minute gifts. Talk about a lack of holiday spirit. Most look like they hate their lives and the people they are shopping for. Makes you wonder why people even bother.

Regardless, we’ve managed to get in and out of stores rather easily and have been having a good holiday season—free of stress. And I hope you are as well.

Thank you so much, Brent. And I hope you and your family also had a good Christmas.

What a busy time. I’m home this week taking care of some household projects—wired some cabling to the kitchen so that we could have a small TV in there and later this week I’ve got to lay a floor. Whew. And this is a vacation. 🙂
