Plays Well With Others

Happy Anniversary to me …

Happy Anniversary to me …

I almost forgot about it totally, until I was doing some housecleaning on the site a couple of days ago and realized that the two year anniversary of Commixion was right around the corner. Meaning of course, that Tim’s site would also be an anniversary coming up. So, happy anniversaryy to him too.

Every year I try to go back and time and give some kind of story about why Commixion came about. At this point, I have no clue. I know that I was reading some journals at work at the time. I had nothing to do all day and needed to pass the time, so reading journals was a fun thing to do. After a few months, I figured that it might be fun to actually try my hand at writing one and so it all began on a July 1st, 1999. That first entry was a bit puny, just an intro of things to come. In those days I’d handcode every page every day and then post it via FTP to the live site.

Well about a year later, I had a job that kept me busy enough so that handcoding pages wasn’t going to work anymore, and so, as you can see by that archive box at the top of each page, in June 2000 I started using Blogger, to make entering journal entries ALOT easier. Rather than spending a great deal of time handcoding pages and FTPing them up to the site, I could just use a popup box, post my entry and be done with it. This method also worked out wonderfully when I would go on vacation, because I could still post entries from wherever I was at the time, simply by visiting the Blogger site. Unlike my trip to New York early on, and having to write down notes of everything I did, and then transfer them to the webpage upon my return.

So, in two years I’ve changed jobs two times, I’ve met a reader of mine and am engaged to her, I’ve moved a couple of time, and I’ve visited New York and Canada during this time. I’ve also shared more about my life with all of you than I would have ever shared to anyone in my real life.

So, that’s what two years has brought. A webpage full of random thoughts, words and pictures of my life. Exactly what commixion means. I’ve tried not to give a play by play of what I do every day, but snippets of what goes on in my head sometimes. I think I’ve accomplished that and so, I’ll keep going until I find it’s a good time to put it to rest. Until I run out of thoughts or I just dont find it practical to keep doing this.

It’s been two years … and counting.
