Plays Well With Others

Serving sizes …

How many of you have read those nutritional information blocks on the back of your food? You know you have. Have you ever noticed how the serving size is not even close to a normal portion.

Like you’d get a small package of M&M’s and it might say “Serving Size: 5 M&M’s”. Um, I’m going to eat the whole damn package, not just five. It’s a personal size package anyway, and there are about twenty of those little mofo’s in one package, and I’m not going to eat five and be like, all done. Anyone want five of these.

The tortilla package is equally funny. It says “Serving Size: 1 tortilla”. Who the hell eats one tortilla? You go to a restaurant and order fajitas and they give you at least four or five. And, I’ve never seen a hispanic family sit down at dinner and serve everyone one tortilla. We use those puppies to pile food on top of, then use them to sop up whatever’s left on the plate. One tortilla my ass.

I just have to wonder what brainiac is sitting around doling out these miniscule portions. I have a feeling it has to do with the calories and fat content portion of the nutritional sidebars. I mean, if they were realistic about the serving size, people wouldn’t buy the product. Like if a package of tortillas said “Serving Size: Six tortillas” they’d also have to mention that you’re consuming “800 calories” and that you may as well replace your front door with a garage door, because your fat ass isnt going to be able to get out of the building.

Of course, those nutritional sidebars are a little misleading. People buy things based on the number they see on the side. “Fat from calories: 2”. Of course, no one reads the part above that states that its based on eating one M&M. All they see is the two, and figure it must be good for them.

So, the moral of this story is simple … we’re all a bunch of fat-asses because the government and food companies are lying to us. Giving us a false sense of hope. You think your only getting 2 grams of fat, when youre getting 500 because no one just eats two chips, or three ounces of soda, or five M&M’s.

Um, I eat only one tortilla. I also only eat one cup of cereal for a meal, too.
