Plays Well With Others

Another wedding down …

It all started around 9AM. The alarms went off and Wifey™ and I began our day. It was 02/02/02 afterall, the day of my friends’ wedding, and our responsibility was to get the groom to the place on time.

We showered, primped, loofa’d and got dressed – me in my tux, Wifey™ in her wedding attire and then we headed out. After a few short trips to get donuts for breakfast and some car decorating stuff from a store near his house, we arrived. We arrived about 45 minutes early, giving him time to eat a little before getting dressed. While he dressed, we packed the car with the reception stuff that was left behind, and then at about 11:30AM, we headed out.

The groom had rented a newer model Mustang – his dream car – for the weekend, and he and I rode up in the Mustang, with me at the wheel and Wifey™ followed us in our CRV. The ride took roughly half an hour and we arrived around noon, about an hour before the ceremony would be starting.

Without doing a play by play of the entire day, which I’m sure you are all thankful for. It went very well. Wifey™ and I were running around all day and probably ate only a nibble until dinner time. I also found out, surprisingly, that the guy doing the DJ work wasnt going to do any of the MCing, so I ended up taking that over for the day. It’s not difficult, but when you dont get to prepare ahead of time, it can be quite nervewracking.

After the ceremony and cake and punch reception, we then had to head to a dinner/banquet for another three or four hours of partying. Of course, since this was a sit down dinner, luckily we didnt have to run around as much and got to be seated most of the time. My feet were killing me from the rental shoes and both of us were dead tired and just wanted to get home. We are convinced that we were more tired from this than at our own wedding.

All in all, it was a very nice day for everyone.

Friday, Wifey™ and I were off and decided to do a little extra work on our bedroom project. We’d pretty much finished up the main projects and just needed the accessories, like table lamps, picture frames and other stuff. So, where better to go for such things than IKEA.

OH MAN.

IKEA is sort of a playground for grown ups. I mean, there is everything there, it’s reasonably priced and it’s all cool. I mean, even if your taste isnt for the most modern stuff, you can usually find some cool accessories that are priced just right for your home and taste.

Wifey™ and I walked through aisle by aisle finding just not only stuff we wanted for ourselves, but ideas on how to decorate certain rooms. It’s really neat. In the end we spent most of our time downstairs, where they have all of the accessory types of things and we found lamps, picture frames and uncovered pillows … as well as some kitchen stuff that we just NEEDED, if you know what I mean.

The picture frames are perfect squares, which are going to be neat once we find stuff to put in them. They were only about $10 each, and the uncovered pillows were just what we were looking for. Sunday we sewed up some pillowcases for them and now they are practically all set.

Anyone else, LOVE IKEA. Ugh. We just got our about a year and a half ago or so, so for us SF-ites its still a big deal.

For those of you that might not be familiar with Commixion, here’s the lowdown. The right hand column has all the goodies. The webfeeds are news related stuff … headlines of sorts. The weblog is updated on whim more than anything. It’s the place I stick unfinished thoughts and links to interesting sites. Check it often, as it changes all the time. FridayFive is updated on … erm, Fridays. It’s a bunch of questions from FridayFive.org and I just answer them. A good place to find out about me. Under the heading Discussion, you’ll find the forum and something called webreviews. Webreviews is usually updated Wednesday or Thursday and is where I review a journal site. Anyone can submit their reviews along with mine. The newest addition is the Shoutbox, where you can leave random messages. Anything you want to say to anyone. Finally, at the bottom of the page is random forum questions you can answer.

I try to make it as interactive as possible in here, so join in when you have a chance.
