Another Year Older…

Another birthday has come upon me. It’s been nice. I opted to not take a day off and instead came to work, which was probably for the best. What would I do at home anyway, but sit around and piddle. This way I’m busy all day and it goes by quietly.

Actually had a nice birthday for a change. I like it quiet and to go by quickly without a lot of commotion. I dont mind people acknowledging it, but I certainly don’t need a marching band showing up. Over the weekend I went out for a dinner with my mom, sister, her fiancee and brig for a semi-birthday dinner type of thing. Got a couple of gifts which was nice and that’s about it. Earlier in the week, I got an e-card from Nicole wishing me a happy birthday, and then today I opened my email and got an iTunes certificate from my friends, an e-card from my father and stepmother and an email from another friend. Then my sister and mom both called to leave birthday voicemails. Oh, and I also got a card from the coworkers. I think it’s actually the first time in two years that they’ve actually remembered my birthday… on my birthday and not a month later. The card was actually kind of cute… at least it made me laugh, but that hasn’t been hard this week, seeing as how Katie’s cracked me up on three occasions already.

The card read: “Okay, Here’s the PLAN. At 2:00, everyone will start STAPLING things. It’ll be fun… Oh fine. Then YOU organize something. Excuse me for wanting a little birthday team building.”

I guess the image of everyone stapling at a certain time caught me funny.

Anyhow, another year under my belt. Thank GOD. I have a year to prepare for the next one.

[Note: I also got a phone call from Katie later on… just not to leave anyone out. An additional note, the Wifey took me out to dinner for some very good Mexican food… gotta love me some fajitas. A traditional birthday dessert was provided to me later on… at home.]
