Poopoopdydoop…
The first rain in like a year hit us Saturday night. It’s been so hot out lately that hearing rain woke me up from a sound sleep. It’s been so long since I’ve heard that sound. Now it’s back to being sunny again. Maybe it’ll rain again sometime.
The weekend was fairly relaxing. While Wifey™ was out getting a pedicure, I was on the hunt for an ironing board hanging thing that hangs on the inside of the closet door. I figured it’d be easy to find one of these and didn’t think it’d take me all weekend to find a place that sold them. I was wrong. I went to two hardware stores (Orchard Supply and Home Depot), Bed Bath and Beyond and Target with no luck at all. I was beginning to think I’d imagined that they existed and had a new invention on my hands when I walked into a store called Organized Living and found exactly what I was looking for. Yay. So now the ironing board is hanging on the inside of our closet door.
In other news, my sister got engaged earlier this year and has been planning her wedding for months. The reception hall is picked out, the bridesmaids have bought their dresses and things are flowing nicely. So it came as a little bit of a surprise to us when she told us on Saturday morning that the wedding has been called off‚Äîpermanently. Like, not only are they not getting married right now, they won’t EVER be getting married or seeing each other much ever again. Well… isn’t that special. My mom is out the deposit for the reception hall and we’re out for the bridesmaids dress Wifey™ bought. More news to come, I’m sure.
Speaking of my sister, she turned 30 this last week. So we all went out to brunch at this mexican restaurant. It was good. She was hungover from the night before. Seems she went to some club/restaurant and some good partying was had with her friends… including a spanking by some gay guy. Ugh. It’s funny how different 30 can be for different people. Wifey™ and I came home and took a four hour nap. I guess those extra couple of years make a big difference.
In final news, one of my supervisors has been laterally promoted to another position in our group. I don’t know if it’s much of a promotion, but it’s sort of a sideways move somewhere else. All I can say is “goodbye and good riddance”. Just kidding. Got that from Big Brother’s Diane. Actually, she’s been fairly civil the past few months, but I think everyone in our group has had problems with her management style. So, it’s not that big a loss to have to move somewhere else. We’ll still have to deal with her, but so will everyone else. It also means there should be some shifting around in our little group, so we’ll have to see how that pans out. From what I’ve heard, the whole department is going to be reorganized in some big way. No details and no need to ask because I probably won’t know what they are until it happens.
Anyhow… I’m ready for this week to just be over.
