Plays Well With Others

Grand Opening …

Today was the Grand Opening celebration of Franklin Templeton’s world headquarters, where I work. It began shortly after lunch and lasted until the end of the day. It was pretty fun. The photo here shows one of the four buildings in the quad. The photo was taken from the building I work in, directly diagonal from it. In attendance was the mayor of the city, and a bunch of other invited guests. Totally fascinating.

Part of the celebration was a tour of the offices, where you could get free stuff for visiting different buildings, followed by a BBQ. First stop was the on campus bank, where they were giving away free $2 bills, just for going in and saying hi. Okay hi, gimme my money. Next stop was the human resources offices where we could collect a little cube type of thing … who the hell knows what that was all about, but I did snatch a cool pen. Next stop was the offices of Training and Development. Who the hell knows what they do, but they were giving away really nice sweatshirts, so I was all into that. Gimme my sweatshirt … whatever you do. After that I headed over to the Gym, where we could have gotten a nice towel, if all the greedy people hadnt taken them first. Nya. Next stop, the recreation room, for a nice water bottle … great, the shit is getting cheaper everywhere I go. Then over to the auditorium, where I got a hat, and then over to the cafe where I got my free lunch … a hamburger and chips. Mmmmmmm … it was good.

By the time it was all over, I headed back to my desk area, which is what the photo above is. It’s small and simple, but quite cozy once you get used to being in a cubicle. I did make a decision today though. I’m going to start using the gym at work. Its huge, its free and I can use it everyday, including weekends. What other chance do I get to use a free gym, with twelve treadmills and about the same number of stationary bikes, and all kinds of weight lifting equipment. Booyah! Greg is going to be buff. NOT.
