Plays Well With Others

Do the British Have Sex?

I’m feeling pretty good today … in fact, I’m feeling damn good for a change.

I went out and got the bulk of my christmas shopping done, even though it meant going to the malls. Actually I was quite surprised at how not-horrible it was. I got into a parking spot easy, I found what I needed at the GAP, and got out within about an hour … and I arrived at about 10:30AM … as I was leaving, the lot was filling up and the people were beginning to arrive … but somehow I missed them. I’m so happy.

I also found my christmas cards … and I really like them. They are scenes from San Francisco, but with snow and holiday stuff all over them … they are really nice. I also wrote out all the ones for my friends … so I’m feeling better about having things in control.

I’d like to send cards out to all of you for visiting … but I’m going to have to limit it to anyone that has ever emailed me or signed my guestbook … so let me know if you’d like a card sent to you.

So being the crybaby that I am … I’m wiping my eyes off after watching Mr. Hollands Opus … it’s one of my favorites. I think there is a secret part of me that wants to be a teacher … and so teacher movies always interest me. The end always gets me … when after teaching for over 30 years, he finds out the school has cut his music program, and he’s left without a job, feeling like his life meant nothing. It’s really a good movie … and I recommend you see it if you haven’t. Okay … I’m better now.

So, I think As The Journals Turns is over … and we can all return to our lives … what lives?

I was talking to someone about how Tim doesnt share any photos of himself with us. I mean Katie has photos … you really, really have to do some heavy duty searching to find them … but they are in there. I even have photos … as much as I hate the camera … but Tim only has that one blurry, fuzzy, tiny photo up … and it looks like half his face is missing. I’m thinking he has the elephant man syndrome … you know, when you have a large bump on half of your face … or he could be like phantom of the opera.

The person who best describes Tim to me will win a Christmas card … with my autograph even.

And speaking of Tim … I found this interesting article and just had to cut it out for you all … very interesting … it explains alot.

No Sex Please, We’re on the Computer
Updated 7:52 AM ET December 10, 1999

LONDON (Reuters) – If you are Swedish, you stroke it. If you are Spanish, you beat it. If you are German, you cover it in food.

And if you are British, you use it as an excuse not to have sex.

The attention-grabbing personal computer is taking over.

A quarter of Britons would rather be on their PC than making love and more than half of the population admits to talking to the screen — not bad for a nation which once ridiculed Prince Charles for talking to his plants.

PCs in Spain suffer violence with 57 percent of owners admitting to hitting them, according to a survey of computer use in five European countries by technology giant Microsoft.

Another 18 percent of Spaniards are driven to tears of frustration while Germans are distinctly unamused by them — only one in six has enjoyed a laugh with their PC.

The temptation of sex, or even soccer, is not enough to drag some away from the mouse clicker.

“Despite football fever sweeping the nation when the French raised the World Cup last year, nine in 10 French PC owners would rather be on their computer than watching football, more than any other nation,” Microsoft said.

In Sweden, 11 percent of loved ones are left alone at night as their partners play away in the computer room while 20 percent of users admit to stroking their PCs.

Germans are the worst for dropping food on theirs with nearly a quarter of the nation admitting to spillage.

The over 60s — so-called “silver surfers” — are most dedicated to their PCs in Britain where they clock up 13 hours a week at the keyboard compared with under an hour in Germany and Spain.

I think Tim needs to read this and warn “J” before they get to deep into this relationship. And Tim makes fun of us Americans … hmm. Are you talking to your screen again?

I was reading how certain journalers, like Pamie or Mighty Kymm, fill out Amazon wish lists and then their readers buy them stuff … somehow I find that a misuse of the net. I mean if you can get free stuff … well then, I guess you should go for it … but I just feel like its a little wrong. Sure they say, I just filled out the wish list for myself … but when you know you have thousands of readers and at least some of them are going to buy you stuff, it just seems wrong.

Dont get me wrong, I love reading Pamie and Mighty Kymm’s journals … and I’m definately not singling them out, I’m just feeling like it’s sort of a misuse of the journal forum. I always feel like I should be thanking you for taking time to read this … instead of it being the other way around and me having you buy me stuff and read my site …

Now here is the link to my wish list … just kidding, I wouldnt do that to you all. Hate mail can be directed to Tim … I dont want to hear it.

There are only about 12 days left til Christmas … which remind me of a song whose lyrics I found at Tim’s Christmas Page.

On the twelfth day of Christmas my true love sent to me …

12 Drummers Drumming, 11 Pipers Piping, 10 Lords a’Leaping, 9 Ladies Dancing, 8 Maid’s a’Milking, 7 Swans a’Swimming, 6 Geese a’Laying, 5 Golden Rings, 4 Calling Birds, 3 French Hens, 2 Turtle Doves … and a (Tim) Partridge in a Pear Tree.

The Other Side of Myself – Michael

i wondered if they get many nudes as i set the photograph on the counter and asked for a black frame with a black matte. lura pointed out the black and silver wood frame went better than the matte metal frame, “much more goth” i said, and eighty-six dollars later, we have an original framed self-portrait by tracylee.

I think I knew about Michael’s site about a year ago … long before I started a journal. The title alone is great, because for most of us … our online journals are the “other side of ourselves” … sort of our place to talk about stuff we might not normally share.

What makes this site different is the fact that it’s more like a journal in photo format. Michael is a photographer that shares his words and pictures with us … creating an exciting content page. Please spend some time browsing Michael’s pages.
