Plays Well With Others

So before I try

So before I try to point out something and then get my ass kicked … let me just clarify that I dont really care one way or the other.

I got involved in a conversation about how many women are choosing not to take their husbands last names when they get married. I guess its an in vogue type of thing, or maybe its not as in vogue anymore, who knows.

Anyhow, seems lots of the girls I work with choosing to go this route. Basically, the whole tradition of a woman taking her husbands last name came from the “olden” days when ownership of the daughter would be passed from the father to the new husband, thus the taking of the husbands last name.

So, in trying to get to the bottom of this I was asking what the point was to this and most of the people said, “its my last name, why should I change it”. Again, I could care less if the person I’m with would choose to take my last name or not. Afterall, the Barber last name isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

I think Wifey™ and I got on this subject once and I beleive she wanted to keep her last name also. Doesnt bother me, really, not in the least. Afterall, its not like I call her by her last name … she’ll always be Wifey™ to me.

Anyhow, I dont really know why I decided to write about this … just a subject that we started talking about. How do you all feel about the last name issue? To take or not to take your husbands last name … I guess it depends on what it is, Mrs. Fucke, pronounced Foo-kay, but who would know that.
