Plays Well With Others

Uh..So Where’d I Leave Off …

So, one second I’m sitting here merrily packing up the apartment for the big move and the next thing I know, I’m completely without internet. And worse, I seem to have disappeared completely from the world wide web.

Well, I’m back. Finally.

I leave for one second and the whole world goes to shit. Ugh. When I left we everything was fine. I come back online and there’s a war going on. Great. See what happens when I’m out of sight.

Anyhow, the move went well and everything is set up. It’s like we’ve lived there for a million years. Not one box to be seen … except in my office which will probably look like that forever. Wifey™ and I have been having a blast in the new place and are in awe of the fact that we no longer hear the fatasses upstairs waddling around the house. Here’s a tip: If you are an upstairs neighbor, try to remember that there are people living underneath you. When you run through your house, the apartment below you shakes violently. When you listen to your TV or music loudly, the apartment below you also gets to listen to it. When you talk loudly, we can hear that too. And when you drop heavy objects on the floor, make sure to come downstairs and straighten all the pictures you just caused to become askew. Just something to keep in mind. It’s something Wifey™ and I are keeping in mind now that we are in the upstairs unit. I think we’ve asked the lady downstairs fifty times if we are being too noisy.

So, besides that things are going well. We moved in on Friday, March 21st, and our digital cable was installed on the 22nd, along with the telephone line. And, although our DSL comes through the telephone line, they didn’t actually get it up and running until just a couple of days ago on April 1st … and after me spending an hour on the phone with tech support. And so, with DSL installed, up and running, my $2000 computer that spent a week and a half as a very large calculator/Nintendo, can now go back to work as a web and email server. The final thing to get up and running is the webcam, which is accessed in the left sidebar under “Look out my window”. When that starts functioning, you’ll get to see all the people coming to and from the fitness room, laundry room, clubhouse, swimming pool, and playlot. Much more exciting than watching the house next door for hours and hours, as with the last apartment. I’ll try and get that up and running tonight.

So, with that, the move went very well. Wifey™ and I were very sore and tired for a few days before and after it all went down, but we’ve recovered. Now we are just waiting for our mail to kick in. Almost two weeks of living in this apartment and I think we’ve received five pieces of mail. I called the post office on Monday and they notified me that they never got our forwarding notice and that it must have been lost in the mail. Ugh. How the hell does something addressed to the post office get lost in the mail?? All they had to do was get it from the mail box to the post office. How hard can that be. Ugh. Anyhow, I think yesterday we started getting actual mail with a forwarding label on it. I just have to wonder where all the mail from the last couple of weeks is. I know we would have gotten some. Everyday we get at least five pieces of mail. I just know that a couple of weeks from now the mail carrier is going to deliver a sack full of mail to our house.
