Plays Well With Others

Feelin’ Groovy …

The weekend went by pretty quickly. Saturday, Wifey™ and I got up around 6AM to head across the bridge to meet our friends for the graduation event. One of these friends was the graduate, and it was our responsibility to get him there on time. But 6 in the fucking morning is WAY the hell too early …

So, we got him there on time. Found some parking amongst the bazillions of people there to watch their little graduate go across the stage in less than two seconds. I brought my camcorder to capture the event, so that they can watch it back later and we found seats in the stadium.

I should point out that the stadium was clear across campus and the weather was overcast and coolish. We also, for some reason, chose to sit in the bleachers that were in the center, like not near an end. Now, when I find seats, I usually go for an end seat. That way, if I choose to leave, I can do so without having to straddle someone’s grandmother. But we sat in the center.

So, I set up the camcorder, got a perfect line of site to the stage and told everyone around me not to stand up and block me. So, things get started and everyone stands up and blocks me. Ugh. So, the first few minutes of tape are close up hair follicles. Eventually I kicked someone in the head and they sat down.

The guest speaker was representative Tom Torlequeson, who I don’t know from Adam … in fact, I know Adam better. The guy got up there and proceeded to make a speech that would rival Bush running for President. He spent the entire time talking about how he wanted to raise taxes, and about his agenda for government. Erm. Then, he goes “now you’ll all be known as gradulates” … Erm. Speak much. What the hell is a gradulate?

Anyhow, halfway into the ceremony, the nice fog went away and the sun started to peak out. And then it got downright hot. And so we all burned. Arm burns, head burns. Not like, “owie, don’t touch that” but more like “fucking touch me and I’ll break your fingers off and shove them down your throat you sick bastard”.

And so, about five hours later, the ceremony had ended and we were free to go … or at least, head to the after party, where we got to see all the people who didn’t get a chance to go to the ceremony. It was basically a mini high school reunion, because 80% of these people were people I had graduated with from high school, the other 20% were spouses or family of the graduate. A fun time, even if I had to gum all my food.

Which brings me to the update … I’m now able to eat harder foods again. Not quite hard foods, but harder. I’m past the soup stage and moved onto the burrito stage. Also, the excrutiating pain is gone … and now all I have is a constant headache. Like constant. It’s always there. I can take some Advil and make it bearable but it’s still there. Shooting up through my jaw, teeth and up into my brain and ears. I’d hope this is normal, but tomorrow I have a checkup so I’ll ask then.

No wonder people get hooked on relaxers, jesus, if it meant dulling the pain of these headaches, I’d get hooked on them too. And if anyone got in my way, I’d knock them out. Don’t mess with my drugs.
