Plays Well With Others

As The Tornado Turns…

I guess having earthquakes just isn’t enough… now we have to have tornados also. It appears that one touched down in South San Francisco, a small suburb outside of San Francisco, where my mom lives.

She called today to let me know she was still alive, in that motherly tone that reads “why the hell didn’t you call to see if I was still alive”. Basically, it touched down in the downtown area of South San Francisco and my mom lives more in the residential area. She lives a mile or two from the downtown area, but still heard it all going on.

It was light-weight as far as tornados go, and the meteorologists are still determining if it actually touched down or not. What I do know is that it tore roofs off and actually sent a barbeque flying down the street where it managed to damage a ton of cars.

“It sounded like a freight train or a jet hitting my house,” said construction worker James Silva, 32, who lives on South Magnolia Avenue near Mayfair Avenue. Silva was standing in his house and watched as the storm approached.

“I stayed up until it was a block away. When I saw the shingles from the roof across the street fly off, I got down.”

The storm tore down his backyard fences and blasted out the windows of his SUV in his front driveway.

“I’ve always wanted to go to the Midwest to see one, and it was more than I planned on,” Silva said.

Funny part about that quote is that I graduated from high school with that guy. Anyhow, I don’t pay this much for housing to deal with tornados. I could live in Indiana or Kansas for this shit.
