Terrorist Profiles…
With the recent threats to airlines through liquid bombs, it seems the airline industry is on code red lockdown, taking away lipsticks, ginger ale and other daily items, to prevent the blowing up of an airliner. And while I appreciate the beefed up security, in all, I think it’s just another over-reaction that really won’t stop anything from happening.
Face it. If they want to get something on board, they’ll figure out a way to do it. We’re so focused on canned beverages, that they’ll probably just move on to sticks of gum and do it that way. The shoe bombs threat led to shoe inspections. The liquid bomb threat leads to disposal of all liquids. I imagine pretty soon, we’ll have to walk into an airport naked, without any baggage all all, coughing and bending over so they can jamb their arms up our asses to make sure we don’t have an anal bomb. How much did I pay for this?
The point is that they are focusing on the wrong people. The people plotting to blow up planes aren’t my grandma and grandpa, they also aren’t my 16 year old cousin or my neighbors baby. Let’s get real. They are Muslims.
All were men between 17 and 35, and most seemed to be Muslim Britons of Pakistani descent. At least three of the suspects, though, were converts to Islam.
As much as a I hate to point fingers and get involved in profiling, Muslims are the people that are plotting to blow up our planes. They are the one’s we need to be scrutinizing and they are the ones that need to be pulled aside in the airlines. And if large groups of them walk into an airport, security needs to figure out what’s going on.
At this point, I’d probably get off a plane if more than a couple of Muslim people were on board. Sorry, but that’s the reality. My trip to Disneyland doesn’t include being blown up and scattered all over someone’s street. And I think most American travelers aren’t looking at blowing up a plane either—we all just want to get from point A to point B without dying or getting raped by airport security.
