Wanted: Electricity

Anyone have an extra 1000 watts of power you want to throw my way? Here I am, in the countries fifth largest economy and we don’t have enough electricity to power our homes. We are in a stage three power alert today, meaning that we have no power reserves left and that the power company is going to start shutting off power to people around the state.

I happen to live in rotating block number 4, my mom doesnt have a rotating block number on her bill. So, what does that mean? Well, when the power gets too low, the electric company chooses certain blocks to cut off power to. Sometimes they start with block 1, sometimes 3, sometimes 13, it all depends on who got hit last time. So, they will shut off power to certain communities for about 90 minutes at a time until they’ve saved enough to turn all the power back on. Now, why doesnt my mom lose her power ever … well, she lives on the same circuit as a main hospital, fire or police station. Now I know what to look for when buying a house.

Seems that a few years ago our Republican governor made the brilliant decision to deregulate energy costs. The power companies lost control of the power plants and now the power plant owners are raping us. They are charging astronomical prices and there isnt a damn thing we can do about it. Our two major power companies are ready to go bankrupt and the state is going to lose power. Good going Mr. Republican governor … imagine what a Republican President will do to us.

Anyhow, I’d better wrap this up before I end up in the dark … now where did I put those candles.
