Vomitus Oprahus…
As a rule of thumb, I don’t watch many daytime talk shows. Mainly because I’m working. Can’t watch them if you’re not home.
Well, the other day I stuck Oprah on our Tivo’s season pass just to see what would pop up. I probably won’t watch more than a handful of them, but occassionally my vagina gets the best of me and I just need me some Oprah. So yesterday, Wifey™ decides to play the taped episode from yesterday and I came down to watch it with her. The topic was Tom Cruise’s new movie “War of the Worlds” and I thought it would be interesting.
Ugh. Was I wrong.
So… I think they spent about fifteen minutes talking about the movie. The other 45 minutes was about Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. Ugh. To sum it up… he was an idiot. It was probably the most repulsive thing I’ve watched in a decade. The guy’s 42 years old and acting like a 12 year old boy that just saw his first set of boobs. He’s up there giggling and jumping up and down on Oprah’s couch and pumping his fists like he just won the Olympics. He says he’s “in love”. Yeah. Right. With your 26 year old girlfriend of ONE month.
The entire time I was watching it, between throwing up, I kept telling Wifey™ that there was something not quite right about it all. He was WAY overdoing it. I said that it felt like a publicity stunt for his new movie or something. Afterall… they both have new movies coming out and it certainly gets their names in the papers.
Today, going through the CNN.com headlines, I found this story giving the play by play. Ugh. The part of the story that I actually found interesting was the following:
Despite their openness, many have expressed doubts about the couple’s real intentions. People and Us Weekly magazines have both published polls showing that over 60 percent of respondents believe the relationship is a publicity stunt.
I guess we’ll see how it all turns out once their movies are out. They ARE actors afterall. Who better to ACT like they’re in love. Ugh. Gag me.
